Busy but Healthy: Eliana Georgiou on nutrition – “There is no such thing as I can’t, there is only I don’t want to”

1.Name/Surname: Eliana Georgiou

2.We know that you work in a Shipping Company and you have a busy schedule. How did you decide
to work in this field?
Shipping has nothing to do with what I have studied. An opportunity was given to me and I grabbed it. It is
a great challenge for me to work in the Sales Department of a multinational company.

3.What do you mostly like in your job?
I like communicating with people and facing all those different challenges within my job.

4.Why did you decide to improve your nutrition habits?
Like most women after pregnancy, after my second pregnancy I have gained 15 pounds overall. At that point, trying to lose the excess weight was a complete failure. I was looking at my body in the mirror and I cannot describe the disappointment I felt with my figure. In addition, all this extra weight affected my health. My legs were swelling, I was sleeping heavily and I was finding it so difficult getting up for work every morning. This is why I decided to work with Anna, firstly for my health and secondly, to get my pre-pregnancy figure back.

5.How would you describe your diet in one day?
Breakfast at 7:30:  2 whole grain toasted slices of bread or whole grain cereals
Snack at 10:00: fruits or nuts (preferably almonds)
Lunch at 13:00:  High protein meals like pulses, always accompanied with salad on the side.
Afternoon snack at 15:00: fruits or low-fat yogurt with fruits or rice cakes
Dinner at 20:00: Omelettes or Wholegrain Toasties Or salads with fish or eggs

6.In your opinion, in which way can a busy woman keep herself healthy and in shape?
Being too busy is overrated as a description. When you really want to do something for yourself you find time even if you have a busy schedule. I always have in my office drawer almonds, cereal bars, crackers and rice cakes. Also, equally important is the physical exercise, which helps 30% to reduce the body weight. Walking 30 minutes a day, if not every day, at least 3 times a week is very helpful, any form of aerobic exercise which personally has helped me to a great extent in weight loss.

7.Could you give us the top 3 changes you have made to your diet for energy and wellness?
1.All my meals even if it is pasta, are always accompanied with a variety of vegetables on the side.
2.Small and frequent in between snacks (low-fat snacks).
3.Avoiding fried foods as much as possible.

8.What kind of advice would you give to a busy woman who would like to change her relationship with food and improve her body and health?
First, I would advice her to believe in herself and realize that she can easily follow a healthier way of eating. Last but not least, physical activity has be a part of her everyday life.
There isn’t a word such as “I can’t”, there is only “I don’t want to”.
